We leave Cusco very early in the morning with a pick-up from the hotel in our comfortable private bus to the beautiful Huacarpay lagoon, where we can marvel at the diversity of birds that inhabit the area. Among the species that we can observe are the plumbeous rail, the rail, the rusti fronted (canastero), the hummingbird the bearded Mountaineer, sparrowhawks, falcons, white grebes, flamingos, torrent ducks, puna ibis, Great Diving Duck, Puneño Duck, Red-rumped Duck, Corn Duck, Barcino Duck, Speckled Pigeon, Common Wood Pigeon, Large Hummingbird, Giant Hummingbird, Common Moorhen, Black Hen, Andean Coot, Cattle Egret, White Heron, Blue Heron, Little Egret, Bigua, Alpine Tero, Serrano Tero, Little Pitotoy, Andean Gull, Ashy Hawk, Red-rumped Hawk, Junquero, Red-fronted Canastero, Wigeon, Common Mouse-whale, Andean Thrush. Common Black-headed, Chingolo, Yellow-bellied Varillero, Collared Pepitero, Cinereous Honeyeater, Common Goldbill and many more, adding up to around 50 species of birds around the lagoon. We will continue our journey along the road to the famous Manu National Park. During the journey, we will witness the incredible variety of Andean bird species that live up to 3,750 meters above sea level, and we will make a brief visit to Paucartambo, a charming folkloric town. From there, we ascend to the upper area of ​​​​Paucartambo, reaching Acjanaco, the highest point at 4,000 meters above sea level. Then, we will enter the mysterious cloud forest, which is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, including beautiful orchids, heliconias and primitive ferns. We will take a walk to appreciate the impressive Cock-of-the-Rock (Rupícola peruviana) in its mating ritual, a truly unforgettable experience. In addition, we will have the chance to observe Trogons (Trogon sp.), quetzals, hummingbirds, toucans, nightjars and many other fascinating species. the afternoon, we will arrive at our lodge, where we can rest and enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds us after a day full of exciting adventures and bird watching.

Very early in the morning, we will enter nature to witness one of the most impressive spectacles that the jungle has to offer: the morning ritual of the Cock-of-the-Rock (Rupícola peruviana). This magical moment will allow us to observe these colorful birds in full courtship, displaying their vibrant plumage and performing their characteristic movements to impress the females. addition to the Cock-of-the-Rock, we will have the opportunity to spot other species that fly in flocks, creating a unique visual spectacle in the middle of the jungle. Among these species, the imposing Amasonian Umbrellabird (Cephalopterus ornatus) will stand out, with its striking plumage and distinctive shape that make it one of the most fascinating birds in the region. During our exploration, we will also be on the lookout for Trogons, beautiful and colorful birds that inhabit the jungle and that will complement this birdwatching experience. It will be an unforgettable moment in which we will be immersed in the beauty and magic of nature, connecting with the fascinating world of birds in the Peruvian jungle.

After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we will continue our bus trip for approximately 45 minutes to the port of Atalaya. During this journey, we will be able to admire the coca plantations, fruit trees, orchids and a great variety of birds of different species that inhabit the area. Once at the port of Atalaya, we will embark on a motorized boat to navigate the majestic Alto Madre de Dios River towards our Paititi Lodge. During this exciting journey, we will have the opportunity to observe a great diversity of birds, which may include herons, eagles, kingfishers and the imposing presence of vultures, among which the jungle condor stands out, known as the king of vultures (Sarcoramphus papa). We will also be attentive to spot the majestic jaguar (Panthera onca) and, during the night, we will have the possibility of seeing nocturnal birds such as owls, adding excitement and fascination to our experience in the jungle.

We continue our journey on our boat along the majestic Alto Madre de Dios River, enjoying the jungle landscape that surrounds us. During the tour, we will make a stop at the natural hot springs, where we will have the opportunity to enjoy relaxing medicinal baths, allowing us to recharge our batteries and connect with nature in a unique way.w On the way, we will be attentive to the diverse wildlife that inhabits the beaches of the Manu River, offering us the possibility of spotting many birds in their natural habitat. the afternoon, we will arrive at the village of Boca Manu, located 280 meters above sea level, where we will settle in a hostel with showers and bathrooms. Afterwards, we will visit the island of the valleys to look for birds such as the wild hen, the hoatzin, herons, Muscovy ducks and antbirds, thus expanding our bird watching experience in the Amazon rainforest.

After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we will head into the Manu National Park reserve area, where we will have a greater opportunity to observe the incredible biodiversity that this protected area offers. We will make a brief stop at the ranger control at the Limonal lookout post. We will continue our journey by boat, and begin to understand why Manu is so famous for its wildlife. Along the banks of the river, we will have the opportunity to spot groups of turtles, white caimans (Caiman cocodrylus), and perhaps some capybaras (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris), among other fascinating animals. the afternoon, we will arrive at our lodge located 250 meters above sea level. Here, we will settle into comfortable double beds within platforms and prepare for an exciting hike to visit the lake and the 30-meter-high observation tower. From this tower, we will have the opportunity to spot the giant otters and a wide variety of birds that inhabit the area. It is important to note that, in Manu, animals have never suffered hunting persecution by men, which gives us the opportunity to observe wildlife in its natural state. We will spend the night in the lodge, sharing showers and bathrooms.

Today the group will explore Cocha Salvador, located just 30 minutes away from Cocha Otorongo. During this day, we will walk deep into the virgin primary forest. We will visit the cocha to row silently on a catamaran, which will give us the opportunity to see the giant otters and a great variety of exotic birds, such as the sultana cock (Porphyrula Martinica) or the Agami heron (Agamia). It is also very likely that we will be able to see monkeys of different species; We will almost certainly be able to observe at least 9 of the 14 species present in the area. Afterwards, we will take walks along the main trails with the guide, who will share with us the functioning and secrets of the tropical forest. Before returning to our lodge, we will make a brief visit to the Matchiguenka community house to buy some local crafts. the afternoon, we will return to the lodge, where we will spend the night on roofed platforms, with beds provided with mosquito nets. We will have shared showers and bathrooms, and an optional night walk will be offered for those who wish to participate.

After a delicious breakfast, the group continues their journey by boat to navigate the Alto Madre de Dios River. During the journey, we will be able to observe a great variety of birds, such as herons, kingfishers, tanagers, toucans, quetzals, manakins, antbirds and woodpeckers. We will spend the night in a lodge with showers and bathrooms. The next day, we will wake up very early to head to the great Collpa de Macaws Coloridos, where we will witness the spectacular spectacle of hundreds of parrots and macaws. Here we will have the opportunity to observe various species, including the beautiful Orange-cheeked Parrot, as well as blue and yellow parrots. For the rest of the day, we will go on walks to spot more varieties of birds and explore the flora and fauna of the area. The environment around this lodge is home to a great biodiversity, with a variety of forest types including bamboo, varzea, terra firme and floodplain forest. We will spend time in an observation tower accessed by a spiral metal staircase, from where we can spot a multitude of birds including anteaters, chestnut-backed parakeets and striated lorikeets. Afterwards, we will head to our lodge for the second night.

After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we will head to Camungo Lake to observe the Giant River Otters as well as a variety of birds. We will also have the opportunity to climb the observation tower to spot more birds and monkeys. In the afternoon, we will embark on a boat upriver to Boca Manu, where we will spend the night in a lodge with toilets and showers available.

After enjoying our beautiful trip and exploring the jungle, we will return very early by boat to Colorado, a trip that will take approximately 3 hours. Then, we will continue by car for approximately 4 hours. If you have a scheduled flight, it is recommended that it be after 4 p.m., either to Cusco or Lima, preferably opting for the last available flights.
