Itinerary

Manu Tours begins with a pick-up from your hotel very early in the morning, between 5:30 AM and 6:00 AM, in our comfortable and private bus. En route to our destination, we will stop to visit the impressive funerary towers of Ninamarca, located at 3750 meters above sea level, followed by a short visit to Paucartambo, a folkloric town known for its colonial bridge. We will continue ascending towards the upper area of ​​Paucartambo, the Acjanaco sector, at 4000 meters above sea level, which marks the entry point to Manu National Park. From there, we will descend through the mysterious cloud forest, which is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, including beautiful orchids, heliconias, and primitive ferns. We will go on a hike to give you the opportunity to witness the incredible mating ritual of the Cock-of-the-Rock (Rupícola peruviana). We will also have the chance to spot birds such as Trogons (Trogon sp.) and Quetzals (Pharomachrus sp.), among other fascinating species. If we are lucky, we might even spot the elusive Spectacled Bear (Tremarctos ornatus). In the afternoon, we will arrive at the picturesque village of Pilcopata, located 550 meters above sea level, where we will stay in our typical lodge outside the city. This lodge has private bathrooms and showers to ensure a comfortable stay during the night.
Early in the morning, we will depart from Pilcopata, located 550 meters above sea level. The group will continue its journey by bus to Puerto de Atalaya, located 490 meters above sea level. From here, we will embark on an exciting boat trip along the Alto Madre de Dios River, which will last approximately 6 hours. During the trip, we will have the opportunity to enjoy a bath in medicinal hot springs and then continue our journey while observing a wide variety of birds, including herons (Ardeidae), kingfishers (Alcedo atthis), and the majestic presence of vultures, among which the jungle condor stands out, known as the king of vultures (Sarcoramphus papa), as well as the possibility of spotting the emblematic Jaguar (Panthera onca). In the afternoon, we will arrive at the town of Boca Manu. At noon, we will make a brief stop in the town of Boca Manu, located 280 meters above sea level, where we will stay in comfortable cabins typical of the region.
We will navigate the imposing Madre de Dios River until we reach the cabin, which is located very close to the impressive macaw clay lick. During our stay, we will enjoy a walk to explore the various trails surrounding the lodge, as well as the bird watching tower. At night, we will have the possibility of taking a night walk and we will stay at the lodge, which has bathroom and shower facilities to ensure a comfortable and pleasant stay.
After enjoying a delicious and nutritious breakfast, we will continue our itinerary by embarking on a boat to observe the macaw clay licks. From an observation tower or a typical catamaran in the area, we will have the opportunity to witness an impressive spectacle of birds of great variety. In addition, we will be able to spot monkeys, reptiles, dwarf lizards, insects and groups of turtles, and we may even see some capybaras (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris) nearby. After this unforgettable ride, we will head to the white lake. From a catamaran, we will have the opportunity to observe some otters and turtles, thus enjoying another fascinating experience in the natural beauty of the area.
After breakfast, we will board the boat to Puerto Colorado, a trip that will take approximately 3 hours. Then, we will transfer by vehicle to Puerto Carlo. Those passengers who prefer to travel by bus will continue their trip until they reach Cusco, with an approximate arrival time of 9:00 p.m. Along the way, we will make stops at places of interest to admire up close the imposing Ausangate snow-capped mountain, which rises to 6,300 meters above sea level, before dropping them off at their respective hotels. On the other hand, those passengers who choose to take the flight from Puerto Maldonado will continue their trip to the city of Puerto Maldonado, where we end our tour.

During the stay, participants can enjoy hikes to explore the nearby trails and birdwatch from a specialized tower. Day four offers the chance to observe the macaw clay licks from a boat, followed by a visit to Lago Blanco to observe otters and turtles from a catamaran. This experience offers a unique view of wildlife in its natural habitat. Finally, day five involves a boat trip to Puerto Colorado, followed by a transfer by vehicle to Puerto Carlo. Passengers have the option of returning to Cusco by bus, with stops at places of interest such as the Ausangate snow-capped mountain, or continuing their journey to Puerto Maldonado to take their flight home.
