The 4-day Manu Cultural Zone tour begins in Cusco and takes us on an exciting adventure. From Cusco, we head through Paucartambo, the stunning cloud forest, and Pilcopata, where we spend our first night in a lodge with mosquito nets and private bathrooms. The next day, we will enjoy a delicious breakfast at the same Pilcopata lodge before continuing our journey to Atalaya, where we will be greeted by beautiful landscapes. In the afternoon, we will arrive at the Paititi lodge, where we will spend our second night. On the third day, we will visit the parrot clay lick and the impressive giant tree, then return to the Paititi lodge and spend our third night in this beautiful setting. On our fourth and final day, we will enjoy our last breakfast in the jungle before setting off on the journey back to Cusco, where we conclude our tour.

Itinerary

We begin our tour with a pick-up at your hotel, early in the morning, between 5:30 AM and 6:00 AM, aboard our comfortable private bus. During the journey, we will explore the impressive Funerary Towers or Chullpas of Ninamarca, located at 3,750 meters above sea level, followed by a brief stop in Paucartambo, a picturesque folkloric town known for its colonial bridge. Then, we will head towards the upper area of ​​Paucartambo, specifically to the Acjanaco sector, at an altitude of 4,000 meters above sea level. This point marks the beginning of the Manu National Park. We will descend through the mysterious cloud forest, home to a wide variety of wild flora and fauna, including beautiful orchids, heliconias, and primitive ferns. During the hike, you will have the opportunity to witness the fascinating mating ritual of the Cock-of-the-Rock (Rupícola peruviana). In addition, there is the possibility of spotting birds such as Trogons (Trogon sp.), Quetzals, and if we are lucky, even the elusive Spectacled Bear (Tremarctos ornatus). In the afternoon, we will arrive at the picturesque village of Pilcopata, located 550 meters above sea level, where our cozy typical lodge is located. Away from the population, this lodge offers private bathrooms and showers to ensure a comfortable stay.
After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we will continue our journey by bus to Atalaya, a 45-minute ride that will take us to an altitude of 490 meters above sea level. In Atalaya, we will board a boat for 30 minutes until we reach the Paititi Lodge, where we will spend the night in a typical setting with private bathrooms and showers. During the boat ride, we will have the opportunity to observe a variety of animals in their natural habitat. After enjoying a delicious lunch, in the afternoon we will head to Cocha Machuwasi. There, we will take a ride on a typical catamaran of the area to observe a great diversity of birds, such as the Shansho (Ophisthocomus hoatzin), as well as monkeys, reptiles, dwarf caimans and insects. We may also be lucky enough to spot some capybaras (Hydrochaerus hydrochaeris). In the evening, we offer an exciting optional Night Trekking program for those who wish to explore the jungle in the dark. Afterwards, we will return to the lodge where we will have private bathrooms and showers to ensure a comfortable and relaxing stay.
Very early we will set off by boat to the green parrot clay lick, a mineral-rich clay wall where we will be able to observe between 3 and 4 different species of parrots in their natural habitat. After this fascinating experience, we will return by boat to enjoy a walk through the forest to spot the giant tree, we will have the opportunity to spot a wide variety of birds, as well as monkeys, small reptiles, dwarf caimans and insects. the afternoon, we will return to our lodge to enjoy a delicious lunch. Then, during the night, we will have the option to participate in night walks to explore the jungle in a completely different environment. We will rest at the lodge, where we will have private bathrooms and showers for greater comfort during our stay.
After enjoying our delicious breakfast, it is unfortunately time to say goodbye to the Paititi hostel and begin our return by boat to Atalaya. There, the bus will be waiting for us to take us back to Cusco, crossing once again the enigmatic cloud forest on our way to the imperial city. We estimate to arrive in Cusco approximately between 6:30 and 7:00 p.m., thus culminating our exciting trip through the Manu jungle.

What will we do?

On the first day, we will depart from Cusco early in the morning on a comfortable private bus. Our first stop will be at the Ninamarca Funerary Towers and then on to the charming town of Paucartambo, where we will explore its folklore and a colonial bridge. We will descend through the mysterious cloud forest, observing the rich diversity of flora and fauna, including the Cock-of-the-Rock. We will arrive at Pilcopata, where we will stay in a cozy typical lodge. Day two takes us on an exciting boat ride to the Paititi Lodge in Atalaya, where we will immerse ourselves even further into the jungle. Along the way, we will enjoy the sight of wildlife along the river. After a delicious lunch, we will venture towards Cocha Machuwasi for a catamaran ride, observing a variety of birds and mammals. Those who wish for a more intense experience can opt for a Night Trekking in the jungle. On the third day, we will explore the jungle early in the morning with a visit to the green parrot clay lick, where we will be able to witness the impressive spectacle of several species of parrots in their natural habitat. Then, we will embark on a hike through the forest to spot the giant tree and continue admiring the wildlife in its natural environment. The afternoon offers the option of a night hike for those who wish to explore the jungle in the dark. On the last day, we say goodbye to the Manu jungle as we return from the Paititi Lodge to Cusco. During the return trip, we once again cross the enigmatic cloud forest, remembering the unforgettable moments we lived in this incredible adventure. We estimate to arrive in Cusco at night, thus culminating our exciting journey through the Manu jungle.
