Summary of this experience

The tour to Manu and Puerto Maldonado starts early in Cusco, from where we will head towards the high jungle to observe endemic species. Then, we will enter the Manu National Park by boat navigation, having the opportunity to spot various birds and mammals along the banks of the river. We will make a stop in Aguas Calientes to cool off before going to the town of Bocamanu We will have the opportunity to spot river wolves in the lake and collpa of colorful macaws. Afterwards we will be able to observe different species of monkeys and birds. The return can be by bus via Mazuko or return flight via Puerto Maldonado to Cusco or Lima, the return option by Bus will have the opportunity to take advantage of the road to make interesting stops, such as at the Ausangate snow-capped mountain. Arrival in Cusco at approximately 9:00 PM

Itinerary

We will pick up participants from their respective hotels in the morning, between 5:30 AM and 6:00 AM, in our comfortable private bus. En route to our destination, we will stop to visit the impressive funerary towers of Ninamarca, located at 3750 meters above sea level, followed by a short visit to Paucartambo, a colonial town known for its folklore and picturesque bridges. We will continue ascending towards the upper area of ​​Paucartambo, known as Acjanaco, located at 4000 meters above sea level, which marks the entrance to the majestic Manu National Park. From there, we will descend through the mysterious cloud forest, home to a varied flora and fauna, where we will be able to admire beautiful orchids, heliconias and primitive ferns. We will hike to witness the impressive mating ritual of the Cock-of-the-Rock (Rupícola peruviana), as well as to spot birds such as Trogons (Trogon sp.) and Quetzals (Pharomachrus sp.), among others. If we are lucky, we may also spot the elusive Spectacled Bear (Tremarctos ornatus). In the afternoon, we will arrive at the charming village of Pilcopata, located 550 meters above sea level, where we will stay in a typical lodge outside the city, equipped with private bathrooms and showers to ensure a comfortable stay.
Early in the morning, we will depart from Pilcopata, located 550 meters above sea level. The group will continue its journey by bus to Puerto de Atalaya, located 490 meters above sea level. From here, we will embark on an exciting boat trip along the Alto Madre de Dios River, which will last approximately 6 hours. During the trip, we will have the opportunity to enjoy a bath in medicinal hot springs and then we will continue our journey while observing a wide variety of birds, including herons (Ardeidae), kingfishers (Alcedo atthis), and the majestic presence of vultures, among which the jungle condor stands out, known as the king of vultures (Sarcoramphus papa), as well as the possibility of spotting the emblematic Jaguar (Panthera onca). In the afternoon, we will arrive at the picturesque town of Boca Manu Lodge. At noon, we will make a brief stop in the town of Boca Manu, located 280 meters above sea level, where we will stay in comfortable cabins typical of the region.
We will navigate the imposing Madre de Dios River until we reach a lodge located very close to the impressive macaw clay lick. During our stay, we will enjoy exciting walks to explore the various trails surrounding the lodge, as well as the bird watching tower. At night, we will stay at the lodge, which has bathroom and shower facilities to ensure a comfortable and pleasant stay.
After enjoying a delicious and nutritious breakfast, we will continue our itinerary by embarking on an exciting boat trip to witness the spectacular phenomenon of the GREAT MACAW CLAY SHOW, where we will be able to observe colorful macaws from a platform or a typical catamaran of the area. This is an impressive bird show, with a great variety of species, as well as the possibility of spotting monkeys, reptiles, dwarf crocodiles, insects, groups of turtles and even some capybaras (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris). After this unforgettable experience, we will return by boat to Puerto Colorado, a trip that will take approximately 3 hours. From there, we will transfer by vehicle to Puerto Carlo. Those passengers who prefer to travel by bus will continue to Cusco, with an approximate arrival at 9:00 p.m. Along the way, we will make stops at places of interest to admire up close the imposing Ausangate snow-capped mountain, which rises 6,300 meters above sea level, before dropping you off at your respective hotels. On the other hand, those passengers who choose to take the flight from the port will continue their journey to Puerto Maldonado where we conclude our tour.
