



The Manu Cultural Zone, in southeastern Peru, is a transition area between the Andes and the Amazon rainforest, rich in biodiversity and indigenous cultures. It offers visitors the opportunity to learn about local traditions and enjoy ecotourism in a unique natural environment.

Our exciting 5-day adventure begins in Cusco, where we will enter the cloud forest of the high jungle. Here, we will have the opportunity to observe various species that inhabit this area, such as cock-of-the-rocks, spectacled bears, quetzals, trogons, among others. From Puerto Atalaya, we will embark on boats and navigate the Madre de Dios River. Our first stop will be at Cocha Machuwasi, where we will be able to observe a wide variety of animals in their natural environment. Then, we will continue our tour to appreciate the parrot clay licks. We will have the opportunity to admire the mammal clay licks. Our next stop will be in the community of Shintuya, where we will be able to enjoy the hot waters and waterfalls of the area. This will be a perfect time to relax and connect with nature in a stunning environment.

The itinerary offers a variety of exciting and enriching activities throughout the five-day trip. On the first day, in addition to the bus ride, travelers will have the opportunity to explore the Ninamarca Funerary Towers and stop at the charming town of Paucartambo, known for its colonial bridge. The descent through the cloud forest offers the chance to witness the mating ritual of the Cock-of-the-Rock, a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Additionally, the possibility of spotting birds such as Trogons, Quetzals, and the elusive Spectacled Bear monkeys adds excitement to the trek. The second day offers an exciting boat ride to the Paititi Lodge, where a variety of activities can be undertaken. From a relaxing catamaran ride through Cocha Machuwasi to the option to participate in a Night Trek to explore the jungle in a completely different environment, there are options for all tastes. Additionally, the opportunity to observe a variety of animals in their natural habitat during the boat ride adds an element of adventure. On the third day, a visit to the green parrot clay lick offers a unique wildlife viewing experience, followed by a forest hike to spot a variety of birds and animals. The night hike offers a different perspective of the jungle, with the chance to witness the jungle’s nightlife at its peak. Day four takes us to the native community of Shintuya, where travelers can immerse themselves in the local culture and learn about their way of life. A visit to the medicinal waters of Aguas Calientes and the nearby waterfalls offers a relaxing and rejuvenating experience before returning to the lodge to enjoy dinner and rest. Finally, day five marks the return to Cusco from the Paititi lodge, with the opportunity to enjoy the views of the cloud forest on the way back home. Estimated to arrive in Cusco around 6:30-7:00 p.m. marks the end of an unforgettable adventure in the Manu jungle.
