Summary of this experience

Long-sleeved shirt and long pants, preferably light colors. At night, alligator sightings take place. The second day includes a jungle hike to Lake Sandoval, a boat ride to observe birds and monkeys, and a night walk to explore the wildlife. On the last day, take a walk along the Canopy Walk-Way at a height of 30 meters to enjoy panoramic views of the Madre de Dios River and birdwatch before returning to the city.

Itinerary

Reception at the airport or land terminal and transfer to the office for the corresponding registrations. Transfer to the port captaincy where we will take the boat for an hour, to our hostel – Welcome meeting, with a refreshing juice based on fruits from our region. Installation in our respective rooms. After lunch, we will visit the “monkey island”, located in front of our Lodge crossing the Madre de Dios River where we will find different species such as the family of capuchin monkeys and friar monkeys that live on the island and return to the Lodge. At night we will go in search of white alligators that are generally found on sandbanks, in the Madre de Dios River, for which it will be necessary to bring a flashlight. We will also be able to see the capybara, the largest rodent in the world that can weigh up to 60 kilos. We will return to the lodge, have dinner and rest.
After breakfast we will walk 3 km. In the middle of the dense tropical forest, we head towards Lake Sandoval (habitat of piranhas), one of the largest in the Tambopata National Reserve, and we will take a rowboat ride where we will see a great variety of birds and monkeys of different species (shansho, cormorant, jacanas, puma heron, vultures, cotomonkey, friar monkey, black machín, pichicos and sloths). Perhaps we will have an encounter with the giant otter family (almost two meters long) that is in danger of extinction and the largest recorded alligators of more than 4 meters long, return to the Lodge to enjoy the typical lunch. At night we will have a walk where we can appreciate the diversity of species of insects, amphibians, reptiles and other animals with nocturnal habits. – dinner and rest.
5.30a.m. in the morning we will take a short walk along the Canopy Walk-Way, about 30 meters high, which will allow us to appreciate nature from as high as possible, we will also have a panoramic view of the Madre de Dios River. From the platforms we will observe different species of birds such as toucans, macaws, tanagers, orioles, it will be a wonderful experience. Breakfast and return to the city, transfer to the airport and/or bus station.

What will we do?

Reception at the airport or bus terminal and transfer to the Lodge office for registration. On the second day, you will explore Lake Sandoval by boat, spotting birds, monkeys and perhaps giant otters. At night, a walk is taken to observe insects and nocturnal animals. Finally, on the last day, there is a tour of the Canopy Walk-Way, 30 meters high, to appreciate panoramic views and Amazonian birds before returning to Puerto Maldonado.
