Itinerary

To begin the 3-day Manu tour, we will pick you up at your hotel early in the morning, between 5:30 AM and 6:00 AM, in our comfortable and private bus. During the trip, we will explore the impressive Funerary Towers or Chullpas of Ninamarca, located 3,750 meters above sea level, and make a brief stop in Paucartambo, a charming folkloric town with a colonial bridge. Afterwards, we will head towards the upper area of Paucartambo, specifically to the Acjanaco sector, located 4,000 meters above sea level. This point marks the entrance to the Manu National Park. We will descend through the mysterious cloud forest, home to an incredible diversity of wild flora and fauna, including beautiful orchids, heliconias, and primitive ferns. During a hike, you will have the opportunity to witness the fascinating mating ritual of the Cock-of-the-Rock (Rupícola peruviana). In addition, there is the possibility of spotting birds such as Trogons (Trogon sp.), Quetzals (Pharomachrus sp.) and, if we are lucky, even the elusive Spectacled Bear (Tremarctos ornatus). In the afternoon, we will arrive at the picturesque village of Pilcopata, located 550 meters above sea level, where our cozy typical lodge is located. This lodge, away from the town, has private bathrooms and showers for your comfort.
After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we will continue our journey by bus to Atalaya, a 45-minute ride that will take us to an altitude of 490 meters above sea level. In Atalaya, we will board a boat for 30 minutes to reach the Paititi Lodge, where we will spend the night in a typical setting with private bathrooms and showers. During the boat ride, we will have the opportunity to observe a variety of animals in their natural habitat. After enjoying a delicious lunch, in the afternoon we will head to Cocha Machuwasi. There, we will take a ride on a typical catamaran of the area to observe a great diversity of birds, such as the Shansho (Ophisthocomus hoatzin), as well as monkeys, reptiles, dwarf caimans and insects. We may also be lucky enough to spot some capybaras (Hydrochaerus hydrochaeris). In the evening, we offer an exciting optional Night Trekking program for those who wish to explore the jungle in the dark. Afterwards, we will return to the lodge where we will have private bathrooms and showers to ensure a comfortable and relaxing stay.
On the last day of our 3-day Manu tour, we will head early in the morning by boat for 45 minutes to the parrot clay lick, a mineral-rich clay wall. Here, we will be able to witness the astonishing gathering of 3 to 4 species of green parrots, who flock in large numbers to feed on the natural salts and minerals present at the site. After this fascinating experience, we will enjoy a delicious breakfast before continuing our journey. We will leave the boat in Atalaya and proceed by bus, passing through Pilcopata (550 meters above sea level), Patria and Chontachaca, once again crossing the mysterious cloud forest on our way back to the Imperial city. During the bus tour, we will have the opportunity to delight in the views of the cloud forest once again. We estimate to arrive in the city of Cusco at approximately 6:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., thus culminating our unforgettable trip through Manu.
