We leave Cusco very early in the morning, picking up passengers at their hotels with our comfortable private bus to Huacarpay Lagoon, where we will have the opportunity to observe a wide variety of bird species, such as white grebes, flamingos, torrent ducks, puna ibis, greater grebe, Puneño duck, red-crested duck, corn duck, barcino duck, speckled pigeon, common wood pigeon, great hummingbird, giant hummingbird, common gallinule, black moorhen, Andean coot, cattle egret, white heron, blue heron, little egret, cory’s lapwing, mountain lapwing, little pitotoy, Andean gull, Ashy hawk, red-rumped falcon, Junquero, red-fronted canastero, wigeon, common mouse, Andean thrush. Common Black-headed, Chingolo, Yellow-bellied Varillero, Collared Pepitero, Cinereous Honeyeater, Common Goldbill, Bearded Hummingbird, Sparrowhawks, falcons and many more. Around the lagoon, it is possible to spot up to 50 species of birds, making it a true paradise for ornithology lovers. Then we will continue our journey along the road to the famous Manu National Park. Along the way, we will have the opportunity to observe a variety of Andean bird species at 3,750 meters above sea level and we will make a brief visit to Paucartambo, a folkloric town. We will ascend to the upper area of ​​Paucartambo, reaching the highest point in Acjanaco, at 4000 meters above sea level. Later, we will descend through the mysterious cloud forest, which is home to a great variety of flora and fauna, including beautiful orchids, heliconias and primitive ferns. We will take a walk to appreciate the Cock-of-the-Rock (Rupícola peruviana) in its mating ritual. There will also be the possibility of observing Trogons, quetzals, hummingbirds, toucans, nightjars, among other fascinating species. the afternoon, we will arrive at our lodge, where we will prepare to rest and recharge our batteries for the adventures that await us in the following days.

Very early in the morning, we will venture to observe the fascinating Cock-of-the-Rock (Rupícola peruviana) in its morning ritual, a truly unique experience. We will also have the opportunity to witness the species that fly in flocks, filling the sky with their majesty. Among these species, the imposing Amazonian Umbrellabird (Cephalopterus ornatus) will stand out, with its spectacular plumage and elegant flight. In addition, we will be able to observe the Trogons, another group of fascinating birds that inhabit this region. It will be a magical and exciting moment for all nature and birdwatching lovers.

Here, in this privileged environment, we have the opportunity to observe a great variety of hummingbirds and endemic birds of the jungle. Hummingbirds, with their bright colors and agile flight, are a marvel to behold. It is a fascinating and enriching experience for all nature and bird watching lovers.

After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we continue our 45-minute bus ride until we reach the port of Atalaya. Along the way, we will be able to observe coca plantations, fruit trees, orchids, and a wide variety of birds of different species. Once at the port of Atalaya, we will board a motorized boat to navigate the imposing upper Madre de Dios River towards our lodge, the Paititi Lodge. During this boat ride, we will have the opportunity to spot about 30 species of birds that inhabit the area. Throughout the journey, we will be able to delight in the presence of a great variety of birds, such as herons, kingfishers, and always the majesty of the vultures, among which the spectacular jungle condor stands out, known as the king of vultures (Sarcoramphus papa). In addition, there is the possibility of spotting the emblematic jaguar (Panthera onca), which undoubtedly adds excitement and expectation to our journey through the Amazon rainforest.

After enjoying all the wonders that the jungle has offered us, we head back towards Cusco.
