The 5-day "Manu Hidden Paradise Pusharo Petroglyphs" program offers the opportunity to explore the impressive Pusharo petroglyphs, located on the banks of the Palotoa River in the Manu National Park, in the department of Madre de Dios. These petroglyphs are a set of rock engravings of Amazonian origin, which represent a fascinating window to the region's past. The adventure begins in Cusco and takes us on an exciting journey that includes a stop in Paucartambo. Then, we will enter the Manu National Park through the Pilcopata cloud forest, where we will have the opportunity to observe endemic species such as the cock-of-the-rock, spectacled bears, hummingbirds, among others. This program offers a unique experience to explore the rich biodiversity and fascinating history of the Amazon region, culminating in a visit to the enigmatic Pusharo petroglyphs, which are living testimonies of the ancient culture that inhabited these lands.

The first day of this adventure takes us from Cusco to the Pillcopata cloud forest. After a bus ride through the mountains and valleys, we ascend to the Ajanaco Pass to enter this mysterious forest, home to a wide diversity of flora and fauna. During an afternoon hike, we have the opportunity to witness the famous mating ritual of the Cock-of-the-Rock and spot various species such as trogons, quetzals, toucans, monkeys, and, with luck, the elusive spectacled bear and monkeys. The second day takes us from Pillcopata to the community of Pusharo. We wake up to the singing of birds and head towards Atalaya, where we embark on an exciting boat trip to the community. Along the way, we enjoy sightings of birds and other species. Next, we explore the community and its natural surroundings, with its impressive petroglyphs that relate to the legendary lost city of gold, Paititi. Day three immerses us further into the rich culture and nature of the Palotoa Teparo community. We explore the petroglyphs, learn about local history and traditions, and immerse ourselves in the flora, fauna, and agriculture of the region. Day four is dedicated to a deeper exploration of the community, giving us the opportunity to be in direct contact with the local people and learn more about their lifestyle and customs. Finally, day five marks our return to Cusco from Palotoa Teparo. After enjoying a typical breakfast, we board a motorboat for the return trip, with frequent stops to spot wildlife along the way. The trip takes us through the impressive cloud forest, and is scheduled to arrive in Cusco around 9:30 p.m.
