Manu Gastronomy: Flavors of the Jungle
Manu’s gastronomy reflects the region’s rich biodiversity. Ingredients such as river fish, yuca, plantain and a variety of tropical fruits form the basis of traditional dishes.
Some examples are pacamoto, tacacho and the most emblematic, juane, a dish made with rice, chicken and spices, wrapped in bijao leaves. Local communities also prepare drinks such as masato, a fermented drink made from cassava.
Manu’s cuisine not only satisfies the palate, but also tells stories of its ingredients and traditions, highlighting the interconnection between nature and culture.
